Watch the Scots soldiers defend the castle from the fierce Viking attack on the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Largs. Visit the castle encampment and find out about the day to day life of the Norse and Scots people of 1263. Witness combat displays and weapon demonstrations and learn more about the significance of the Norse invasion.
The event will start at 2.30pm at the children’s corner beach on Rothesay promenade with the landing of a Viking boat. This is followed by an afternoon of activities at the castle from 3pm and the event will conclude with a torch lit parade at 7.30pm, hog roast and firework display at the promenade. This event is run in partnership with the Friends of Rothesay Castle.
Entry to the castle is free from 2.30pm. Last admission to the castle is at 5pm.
