Soldiers at the Castle

Stirling Castle has a long association with the armed forces, over 300 years to be exact, and currently houses the Regimental Museum of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.
Over the centuries many soldiers and their families have spent large parts of their life at the castle and this weekend visitors can join us as we look particularly at military life in the castle
Special themed tours will take place at 11.30am and 3.30pm both days and our History Hunters children’s tour, which takes place daily at 2.15pm, will, for this weekend, focus on the life of soldiers in the castle and how they marched in formation and fired cannons. The tour will end at the Regimental Museum of the where as well as seeing the many magnificent and exciting exhibits; they can take part in kids’ activities including camouflage face painting and music based on the regiment’s pipes and drums.
