Divided Loyalties - Bruce Takes The ThroneMedia Releases
The year is 1306 and news reaches St Andrews Castle that Robert the Bruce has been declared king. Visitors to the castle on Sunday, 19 July can watch events unfold as a group of Scots discuss the issue and find their loyalties are divided. Some think the new King Robert I will allow them to throw off the yoke of English rule.

Lion And Unicorn At Edinburgh CastleMedia Releases
Two of the great symbols of Scottish royalty are about to come to life on Edinburgh Castle esplanade. Costumed characters are being introduced to portray the lion rampant and the unicorn, two of the magnificent beasts which appear on the coats of arms and heraldic shields in the castle. They have been created as part of ongoing development to enhance the experience of visitors as they arrive at Scotland’s premier paid-for visitor attraction. The characters are being introduced for a trial period from Monday, 6 July and could become a permanent feature on Edinburgh Castle esplanade.

Corrieyairack Pass repairs 2009Media Releases
A new partnership chaired by Fergus Ewing MSP met recently and agreed to work together to save the Corrieyairack Pass. Historic Scotland, Highland Council, Glensherro Estate, Culachy Estate and Speyside Trust have agreed an immediate action plan to protect the remaining sections of the Pass by re-instating drainage and carrying out essential repairs. Historic Scotland have agreed £29,500, Highland Council have agreed £2500 from both the Badenoch & Strathspey Ward and from the Aird & Loch Ness Ward.

Historic Scotland Launch Scottish and International 3D Scanning ProjectMedia Releases
Culture Minister Michael Russell has announced a groundbreaking project for Historic Scotland to digitally document Scotland’s five World Heritage Sites - The Antonine Wall, St Kilda, New Lanark, Heart of Neolithic Orkney, and the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh. This will be matched with the documentation of five international heritage sites taking Scotland’s expertise in heritage documentation and conservation around the world. Creating what will be known as the Scottish Ten.
