Traditional skills qualification launched

Culture Minister Linda Fabiani MSP today launched the first qualification in masonry conservation in Scotland. Speaking at Trades Hall in Glasgow, Ms Fabiani said: “Scotland’s architecture plays a vital role in our identity, culture and heritage and it is imperative that we maintain it. To do this we have to make sure that the people working on our built heritage are appropriately trained and qualified”.

Auchindoun Castle Reopens To Public

The medieval hill-top fortress near Dufftown, in Moray, was closed in the 1960s due to the danger from falling masonry. In the 1980s, the gaps in the curtain wall were blocked to provide more of a physical barrier to access. The reopening means people are able to explore the castle at their leisure.

Local talent focuses on Arbroath Abbey

Cairngorms national park exhibition
