Free admission at Historic Scotland for St Andrew's DayMedia Releases
Historic Scotland is celebrating St Andrew's Day by opening their attractions for free across the country on the last weekend of November. Admission charges were waived at sites on 20 November in 2007. This year the heritage attraction organisation has gone one step further by opening up 47 attractions for free on 29 and 30 November.

Minister announces £1.6m boost for Historic BuildingsMedia Releases
Culture Minister Linda Fabiani today announced that more than £1.6 million has been awarded in Historic Scotland grants. Five projects, including two castles and the station house of the world’s first roll-on roll-off ferry, will benefit from the Building Repair Grant scheme.

A school visit to Edinburgh Castle in the run up to Remembrance Day will enable a 15-year old descendant of one of the heroes of the Great War to see his great-great uncle’s Victoria Cross - the British army’s highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
