Linlithgow Palace needs your bright ideas
20 May 2010
Historic Scotland is putting together a focus group to look at how it tells the stories of Linlithgow Palace to visitors and local people who use both the Peel and the Palace.
Working with research specialists, Interpretaction, Historic Scotland is looking for people who know the Palace well but also people who are less familiar with the Palace or have never visited it before.
The focus group volunteers will play a big role in deciding on how the Palace’s many fascinating stories are told in the future. They will meet just three times between June and early August at days/times arranged to suit the majority of group members.
Travel costs will be covered.
Jennifer Roxburgh, Interpretation Officer for Historic Scotland, commented:
“These will be lively, fun, informal discussions which last no more than two hours each. This will be a chance to get ‘under the skin’ of a busy historic site like Linlithgow Palace and meet the team there. We’ll be timing the sessions to suit the majority of focus group members, so evening and weekends are a possibility as well as daytime sessions.
“We’ll also be covering visitor routes, guide books, guided tours and access issues, to name just a few things. You don’t need to be an expert – giving a few hours of your time for this focus group could make a huge difference to the way people enjoy the Palace in the future.”
All those interested should fill in the simple application form (accessible online from www.interpretaction.com
) or call Verity Walker at Interpretaction on 077789 22407 before 31st May 2010.
