Arthur's Seat is Nominated as Scotland's Top Picnic Spot

Arthur’s Seat, in Holyrood Park, has been nominated as a contender for Scotland’s top picnic spot.

It appears alongside beauty spots like Loch an Eilean, on the Rothiemurchus Estate, and Glasgow’s botanic gardens.

Members of the public have been invited to vote for their favourite as part of National Bread Week, which starts on 4 May.

Martin Gray, Historic Scotland’s visitor services manager for Holyrood Park, said: “I’m delighted that Arthur’s Seat has been recognised as one of Scotland’s best places for a picnic.

“Thousands of families come to the park every year to enjoy picnics, walks and games.

“The park, and Arthur’s Seat, are a wonderful asset for Edinburgh, giving residents the chance to enjoy a spectacular area of countryside in the heart of a capital city.”
