Grant application for Glasgow’s Duke of Wellington statue

13 November 2013

Following the recent reports about proposed alterations to the plinth below the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow, Historic Scotland clarifies its position in relation to grant-funding work to the statue.

A spokesperson for Historic Scotland said: “We are assessing an application for grant assistance to carry out repair works to the Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square. This application does not include alterations to the plinth which would not be eligible for grant funding and no funding has been allocated for this purpose.”
