Stories from Stanley Project 2008

Children attending Stanley Mills Project
Stories from Stanley was a joint project between the Historic Scotland Interpretation and Education Units and the Scottish Storytelling Centre run during September and October 2008.  It involved four local schools (Stanley, Murthly, Auchtergaven and Ruthvenfield Primary Schools) visiting the Mills and working with a professional storyteller, Claire Hewitt, to create and learn how to tell their own stories inspired by the Mills.

The project finale was a Storytelling Day held at the Mills on 1st November at which the winning stories from each school were performed by the children who wrote them, as well as stories and songs performed by Claire herself.  The event was open to the public and many members of the local community attended including formers workers at the Mills who had their own stories to tell.

A booklet of the stories produced as a result of the project wil be available to download as a pdf shortly, along with audio files of the stories being told.
