New Abbey Corn Mill

Fully restored water-powered corn mill

New Abbey Corn Mill

In full working order, the water-powered New Abbey Corn Mill has been carefully restored and is operated regularly in summer months to demonstrate to visitors how oatmeal is produced.

Highlights

  • The mill’s location – a neat white-washed building in the pretty village of New Abbey, with ducks on the mill pond close by.
  • The mill’s completeness – everything is there: buildings, machinery, fixtures and fittings, just as it was left by the last miller over 50 years ago.
  • Sights and sounds – when the waterwheel is moving and operating the machinery, the sights and sounds recreate an age gone by.
