Historic Scotland has created this section to assist suppliers who may be interested in bidding for contract opportunities. The Procurement Unit monitors the implementation of correct contractual policies and procedures, ensuring good practice.

It is our normal practice to award business through competition unless there are justifiable reasons to the contrary. This approach aims to achieve best value for money to support the key elements of Scottish Government procurement policy.

We are also required to comply with the European Union Procurement Directives and the World Trade Organisation Government Procurement Agreement.


 


How we advertise

Historic Scotland advertises many of its higher value procurement requirements through the Public Contracts Scotland portal  - see the Doing Business with Historic Scotland page. Contracts exceeding the EC Public Procurement Directive thresholds are also advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). The OJEU advertisements can be accessed through the Tenders Electronic Daily website.


Main duties of the Procurement Unit

The main duties and responsibilities of the Procurement Unit are to:
  • Carry out tendering procedures for larger value contracts, typically those above £50,000.

  • Provide an efficient service to customers within Historic Scotland to meet their purchasing requirements.

  • Meet the Historic Scotland target of savings through efficient purchasing activities.

  • Monitor procurement procedures throughout Historic Scotland.
