Road closures & patrols to protect Holyrood Park on bonfire nightMedia Releases

Make your own Stirling Head and see it on our websiteMedia Releases
Young visitors to the castle can make their own version of one of the famous Stirling Heads – then see it on our website. The Stirling Heads are impressive oak carvings, more than 450 years old, which show the faces of kings, queens, emperors, great heroes and characters from the Scottish royal court including a jester and a poet. On the weekend of 30th and 31st October there will be fun family sessions where youngsters can create their own clay head to take home.

Scottish Ten project to capture historic Indian siteMedia Releases
Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced that the spectacular Rani Ki Vav Stepwell will be digitally captured for future generations by a team of Scottish experts. It’s the second international heritage destination to be recorded as part of the Scottish Government’s pioneering project the Scottish Ten, run by Historic Scotland and Glasgow School of Art’s Digital Design Studio.

Bannockburn set for a new Visitor Centre as Culture Minister announces project for 2014Media Releases
A new, £5m state-of-the-art visitor centre at the site of the battle of Bannockburn will be built in time for the next year of Homecoming in 2014, Minister for Culture Fiona Hyslop announced today (Monday, 11 October). The landmark project will see Historic Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland work in partnership to deliver a world class visitor attraction incorporating an immersive digital experience designed to transport visitors back to the fourteenth century battle.
