Holyrood Park goes back to the Iron Age!

25 September 2013

Holyrood Park is going back in time to the Iron Age on Sunday 29th September 2013. This is being held as part of Scottish Archaeology month.

The event is free and time travellers are asked to drop in between 12:00 and 4:00 pm at the Holyrood Park Education Centre.

Matt McCabe, a Ranger for Historic Scotland said: “This is a great way for all the family to get a chance to find out about what life was like back in the Iron Age.

“Come along and have a go at Iron Age activities, including bow drilling and wattle fencing.  You can guess which tool is which and also watch an Iron-Age fire-starting demonstration.

“There will be short, guided walks by a Celtic Druid, a Roman Legionary and a hunter- gatherer.  And if you want to see what fashion was like, you can dress up in clothes from the Iron Age.

“And please remember to make sure you have sturdy shoes if you are going to join us on one of our walks!”

For information

Parking: This is available at the Broad Pavement Car Park. Sunday road closure mean that access to the car park is from Holyrood Road or the Scottish Parliament entrances only.

Disabled: Activities at Centre are suitable for disabled. Guided walks take place on the playing fields.
