Stilring Castle bags host of industry awards

8 June 2012

Stirling Castle is amassing a raft of awards to rival its impressive Stirling Heads collection.

The castle has received a number of accolades including Best Visitor Attraction in the Central/South East Region at the  Scottish Thistle Awards, a gold award at the Transform Awards for the Best Rebrand in the heritage category, and the coveted Judges gold award for Client of the Year at the Roses Creative Awards.

It also scooped Roses Awards for its integrated marketing campaign and advertising strategy and Arts and Culture and Tourism and Leisure awards at the Marketing Society Star Awards (Scotland).

The castle has attracted over 440,000 visitors after it re-opened its palace to the public last summer following a £12 million renovation of the apartments to return them to how they may have looked at the time of a young Mary, Queen of Scots.

Gillian Macdonald, Executive Manager, Stirling Castle said;

"There has been a huge investment by the team in creating a truly memorable experience at the castle so it is fantastic to see this recognised through these industry awards.

"These awards are testament to the hard work of everyone involved in making the castle a fabulous visitor experience – and to our visitors who are making it a ‘must – see’ destination."

The castle will now go through to the final of this year’s Scottish Thistle Awards, the ‘Tourism Oscars’ in November.
