Bruced up in time for Bannockburn’s 700th anniversary

The iconic 1960s Pilkington Jackson equestrian statue of King Robert the Bruce, originally unveiled by Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the battle of Bannockburn, was today revealed to the public after a series of repair and conservation works have restored the monument to its original condition in time for the 700th anniversary of the battle in 2014.

Unique Japanese-style garden at Cowden recognised for its national importance

Archaeologists uncover remains of first Iron Age ‘loch village’ to be found in Scotland

Archaeologists have discovered the remains of an Iron Age ‘loch village’ in Wigtownshire, the first of its kind to be found in Scotland. Experts believe that the significant find could be ‘Scotland’s Glastonbury’, a reference to the Glastonbury Lake Village in Somerset, a site of international significance.
