Come and find out about the new Iona Abbey Redisplay Project
Wednesday 13th March at the Village Hall, Iona
Come along to the Iona Village Hall on Wednesday 13th March 2013 to meet members of Historic Scotland staff who are involved in the exciting new Iona Redisplay Project.
There will be a drop-in session from 2:30 – 4:30 pm where you will be able to see plans and drawings showing the new, improved facilities.
There will also be two presentations from 7:30 pm by Richard Welander, Historic Scotland’s Head of Collections and Peter Yeoman, Head of Cultural Heritage.
They will talk about the behind-the-scenes complexities of conserving, recording and presenting the most important early sculpture collection in Scotland, as well as the extraordinary artefacts and amazing new understandings which have come out of the project research.
Peter Yeoman said: “ We are looking forward to meeting as many people as possible. This is such a momentous and historic time for Iona with the 1450th anniversary of St Columba’s arrival on the island being celebrated this year.”
