, a potent symbol of our nation. The Abbey was founded in 1178 and is famous in Scottish history for its association with the Declaration of Arbroath.
The Abbey features an imposing twin-towered west front which soars high into the sky, whilst the presbytery and the 'Round O' of the South transept window is an instantly recognisable local landmark.

Bridal parties can process through the great West doors down the length of the magnificent ruined nave.The Cloister (open air)

You can get married in one of two rooms within this imposing building. One has traces of original painted decoration whilst the other is a bright, open gallery space hung with pictures.The Gatehouse Range
The spacious upper floor of the Gatehouse, which is illuminated by a series of windows, is available for wedding ceremonies.

You can make your wedding photographs special by hiring Arbroath Abbey specifically for your photographs, even if you are holding your ceremony elsewhere. Please note that at sites where we offer ceremonies, we do not accept photography bookings more than two months in advance of the wedding date.
