Experience Christmas shopping with a difference at Stirling Castle

28 November 2012

Forget pounding the pavements of the high street and endlessly wandering shopping malls this Christmas and join Stirling Castle for a festive shopping experience with a difference.

On Tuesday, (4th December), the castle is hosting its Christmas shopping event with a whole host of independent retailers offering unique gift ideas, many of which you won’t find on the high street.

Companies taking part in the event range from those offering handmade chocolates, stationery and organic skincare to cards, flowers and decorations.

The evening will also feature a health and beauty area where you can get top tips for keeping healthy and looking glamorous this festive season.

Local distillery, Tullibardine, will be offering a free personalised labelling service on the evening, whilst artist Jonathan Wheeler will be signing artwork.

There will also be carol singing by local school children in renaissance costume and a cafe with Christmas themed goodies for visitors.

The event kicks starts this year’s Christmas celebrations at the castle which also includes a special celebration of Christmas through the ages during the day on the 16th December, and Carols at the Castle that evening when the National Youth Choir of Scotland’s Stirling contingent return to the castle.

Gillian MacDonald, Executive Manager, Stirling Castle said;

“The shopping fayre is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit, whilst having the opportunity to support independent retailers and find unique and special gifts for all the family.

“The fayre marks the start of our Christmas celebrations at the castle which are always hugely popular and a great way to celebrate Christmas in atmospheric surroundings!”

Tickets for the shopping fayre cost £5 (which includes parking) and are available online at www.stirlingcastle.gov.uk/festive or on the door. Children under 16 go free but must be accompanied by an adult.
