Edinburgh Traditional Building Festival

Edinburgh’s first traditional building festival will take place 21 – 24 August.

The aim of the festival is to celebrate Edinburgh’s traditional buildings and the materials and skills used to maintain them for future generations.
The events will all be held at the offices of Edinburgh World Heritage at 5 Bakehouse Close, 146 Canongate. The programme will include live demonstrations of slating and masonry skills, talks from heritage experts, conservation case studies, walking tours and advice on improving the energy efficiency of traditional buildings.
The festival is being organised by the Edinburgh Traditional Building Forum and is sponsored by Historic Scotland, Construction Skills Scotland, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and the Stone Federation of Great Britain, with support from Edinburgh’s Telford College and Edinburgh World Heritage.
