Edinburgh Castle Scotland's number one visitor attractionMedia Releases
Edinburgh Castle has been confirmed as Scotland’s number one stand alone visitor attraction. The castle saw 1,210,248 people cross its doors in 2010, the highest number of visitors to a single paid or free visitor attraction in Scotland.

Regeneration funding confirmed for six local authoritiesMedia Releases
HISTORIC communities in six council areas have been awarded almost £3m regeneration funding, Culture and External Affairs Minister Fiona Hyslop confirmed today. The successful bids for Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) grants will see repairs and improvements in Ayr, Rothesay, Portsoy, Anstruther, Dingwall and Irvine.

Visitors encouraged to explore Arbroath Abbey's maritime pastMedia Releases
Visitors to Arbroath Abbey will have the opportunity to explore the site’s links to its maritime past at a special series of events to be held during the month of March. The Abbey, which is run by Historic Scotland, is running a series of workshops to celebrate the bicentenary of the Bell Rock Lighthouse. From the 13th century, the abbey provided a vital focal point for sailors in the North Sea.

Memories of Duff House during World War IIMedia Releases
The magnificent early Georgian mansion Duff House offers a fascinating insight into its dramatic World War II past – when the Adam-designed mansion served as a military base and prisoner of war camp - at a special event next weekend. During the WWII Weekend on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February visitors to Duff House will have an opportunity to join historian Allan Burnett on a captivating fact-filled tour of the grand 18th century property. Allan will talk about its occupation by the military during the conflict, what happened when the house was bombed in July 1940, and what life was like for the German seamen and Luftwaffe pilots who were imprisoned there .
