Historic Scotland has appointed three new non-executive directors who will join the existing three on the agency’s board. The recent campaign to recruit the new non-executive directors attracted a high level of interest. The new non-executive directors, selected from an exceptional field of over 60 candidates, will bring additional skills, expertise and experience to the board. They will be involved in strategic decision making and policy formation affecting all aspects of Scotland’s historic environment.

Historic Scotland and Royal Mail agree policy on protecting listed post boxesMedia Releases
Historic Scotland and Royal Mail have today (Thurs) signed a joint agreement setting out the company’s policy for protecting post boxes of historical importance. The agreement replicates a joint policy drawn up and signed by Royal Mail and English Heritage in 2002, which established the procedure under which Royal Mail deals with historically sensitive post boxes.

Rediscovering historic Hawick and InnerleithenMedia Releases
Historic Scotland inspectors are to visit the Hawick and Innerleithen to identify the towns’ important buildings and to review existing listings. The team will visit locations in these burghs looking for buildings that merit listing while giving a fresh appraisal to properties already listed. This will ensure that areas have the appropriate statutory protection.
