Advice to owners of traditionally built propertiesMedia Releases
Historic Scotland today issued a new CD Rom during National Maintenance Week which brings together expert advice to show owners the best way to maintain and care for their traditionally built properties. Ruth Parsons, Chief Executive for Historic Scotland, today, (Monday, 23 November), launched the CD at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre in Edinburgh. She said: ‘It is essential that we preserve the beauty and character of our traditionally built homes for future generations to enjoy. We are very lucky that we have such a wealth of beautiful architecture in Scotland and we need to take advantage of all the information we have to ensure that we can maintain and preserve it.’

Minister visits the cradle of ChristanityMedia Releases
Minister Michael Russell today (Friday Nov. 20) paid tribute to the work of the Whithorn Trust in promoting one of the country’s most significant historic sites. Whithorn is widely considered to be the Cradle of Christianity in Scotland, traditionally founded by St Ninian in the 5th century. It is unique in its long and continuous history as a place of worship and pilgrimage.

Historic Scotland to celebrate our national day with St Andrew's Free WeekendMedia Releases
With St Andrew’s Day fast approaching, Scots both at home and abroad are once more preparing to celebrate 30th November. Historic Scotland is preparing for the St Andrews Free Weekend - which this year forms a part of Homecoming Scotland Finale celebrations - with confirmation that they will offer free entry to 47 of their outstanding heritage attractions across Scotland over the weekend of 28th and 29th November. There will be extra events at some sites and a few surprises.
