First Minister visits Eastern Qing Tombs as Scottish Ten arrives in ChinaMedia Releases
On the day the pandas arrived in Scotland, First Minister Alex Salmond visited China's Eastern Qing Tombs, ahead of work to digitally document the world-famous heritage site as part of the groundbreaking Scottish Ten project. Launching digital diplomacy links between Scotland and China, the First Minister’s visit highlighted the Scottish Ten collaboration between Historic Scotland, Glasgow School of Art and CyArk, which is documenting all five UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Scotland and five international sites using cutting-edge digital technologies, including laser scanning.

The young Mary, Queen of Scots, Mirrin Follan, aged four, is pictured hanging her Christmas stocking at the £12m newly refurbished Palace at Stirling Castle, to launch Historic Scotland’s Christmas celebrations. Highlights of the Christmas programme include a Stewart Christmas to be held at Stirling Castle on Sunday 11th December from 12:30 – 3:30 pm when visitors will be able to step back in time to the period of Mary Queen of Scots and find out what Christmas would have been like in the Royal Stewart Court in the 16th Century.
