Are you bonkers about bats?Media Releases
They are the only mammals in the world naturally capable of flight; there are over 1,100 species worldwide; they emit high-pitch sounds; they can be found almost anywhere in the world apart from the polar regions and extreme deserts; and this Saturday 1 September 2007, Historic Scotland rangers are inviting people to come and find out a whole lot more (and go a bit bonkers) about the bats in and around Linlithgow Palace.

Historic Scotland awards over £800,000 in grant aidMedia Releases

Canine capers in the parkMedia Releases
Who let the dogs out? That’s the question visitors to Holyrood Park will be asking themselves this weekend as Edinburgh’s largest and most popular green space becomes the venue on Sunday 19 August for the Holyrood Park Fun Dog Show. The family event, which takes place from 11.00am to 3.00pm, has been organised by the Holyrood Park Ranger Service.

Abbey Through A LensMedia Releases
Arbroath Abbey is getting ready to strike a pose once more as Historic Scotland launches its annual photography competition. Local education and community groups are being invited to get behind the lens and take part in this popular project, now in its third year. The project will involve photography and darkroom workshops led by professional photographer, Malcolm Thomson. All entries will then be displayed in a special exhibition in November 2007.
