Historic Scotland and HLF grants bring New Year Cheer to Churches

Five distinguished churches and one cathedral are to have urgent and essential repairs carried out thanks to a funding package announced today by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland. From an exposed cliff side location to the urban inner city landscape, from Romanesque to Gothic Revival, each one is of important architectural merit and in need of attention.

Enjoy the park without the cars

Visitors to Holyrood Park will have the opportunity to enjoy the park free from traffic over the festive season. Traffic restrictions will be in place on the 25th and 26th December and the 2nd January, with no vehicle access to Queens Drive and Duddingston Low Road between 8am and 4pm, following current Sunday access arrangements.

Historic landmarks get funding boost

More than 1.5m is being invested in revitalising some of Scotland’s most important historic buildings, the Minister for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop announced today (Wednesday December 17th). The Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, the Fairfield shipyard office building and Cottier Theatre in Glasgow, along with St Margaret’s Church in Oatlands, will share the latest round of Historic Scotland Building Repair Grants.
