Join the forces at the Fort - and prepare to be entertainedMedia Releases
Fort George, the country’s mightiest military fortification, this weekend hosts a two-day spectacular event highlighting military life through the ages. ‘Forces at the Fort’ - from 12.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August - offers an action-packed, varied programme featuring soldiers from past eras. One of the highlights (weather permitting!) will be awe-inspiring formation parachute drops by Scotland’s only professional parachute display team, the Golden Lions. The precision aerial skills of this specialist army team never fail to impress so visitors have a treat in store.

Interns and Last Keeper Shine a Light on History of Kinnaird Head LighthouseMedia Releases
Two museum interns are helping preserve the memories of the last lighthouse keeper at Kinnaird Head for future generations. Graduates Victoria Thompson and Jennifer Bainbridge are being funded by Historic Scotland to work with Jim Oliver, who was made redundant in 1991, to identify hundreds of objects in the lighthouse and former keepers’ cottages at The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses.

Piper's daily welcome to Edinburgh CastleMedia Releases
Roddy returns to the place which inspired his music. As the great wooden gates of Edinburgh Castle open each morning this summer the first visitors are being welcomed across the drawbridge by a lone piper. He is also playing Scottish tunes for the crowds throughout the morning in Hospital Square.
