New year lunch solution

28 December 2006

Many will make it their New Year’s Resolution to lose some pounds, but this January, Historic Scotland is inviting people to come to Edinburgh Castle and do exactly the opposite! Guests are being asked to ‘indulge’ themselves by booking a mouth-watering lunch at this, Scotland’s most iconic attraction.

Throughout January only, lucky diners can enjoy a delicious three-course meal in the beautiful surroundings of the Queen Anne building in the heart of the fortress and then go for a wander around its many remarkable sights. And those pounds will not be gained on their waistline but in their pockets as the whole meal package, including entry to Edinburgh Castle will only cost them £27.00.

Elizabeth Strain, Historic Scotland’s Catering Contracts Manager said: "Our Christmas lunches at Edinburgh Castle were extremely successful this year, but why end the feasting because Christmas is over? We wanted to give people something to smile about during January and we are positive our January Indulgence Lunch will do just that."

Herb-crusted lamb cutlets, escalope of salmon and red onion and Dunsyre blue cheese tart are just some of the things people can savour with this special January menu. Available for parties of 2 to 120, guests can sit back, relax and enjoy food cooked by experts who have dished up meals to many visiting dignitaries to the Castle.

After the meal, guests can walk off those extra calories by exploring the Castle’s many treasures including the Scottish Crown Jewels and Stone of Destiny or do some shopping in our various gift shops. For more information or to book, contact 0131 220 4833.

Edinburgh Castle will be open on 1 January 2007 from 11.00am to 5.00pm.
