Within These Walls: Route 1
Holyrood Park, 9 November 2013
First in a series of three walks. Built in the 1540s by James V of Scotland, the 5 miles of boundary wall that surrounds Holyrood Park has its own story to tell. Join a Ranger to find out more about this Scheduled Ancient Monument and how the local communities utilised the land.
: 12 noon - 3.00 pm.
Holyrood Park Education Centre.
Education Centre, Croft-an-Righ, Parade Grounds, St. Margaret’s Loch.
Warm, waterproof clothing and sensible footwear (with grips). A snack and drink.
At the Education Centre
Most of the route is on grass or surfaced paths, though there may be a steep incline. May not be suitable for children under 16 years.
At the Broad Pavement Car Park. Due to Sunday road closures access will be from the Meadowbank entrance only. At the Broad Pavement Car Park. Sunday road closure mean that access to the car park is from Holyrood Road or the Scottish Parliament entrances only.
