Please read this agreement carefully before using the services. They represent the terms and conditions ("Terms") for using Historic Scotland Websites. This website (www.historic-scotland.gov.uk) and product websites (www.edinburghcastle.gov.uk, www.whithornpriorymuseum.gov.uk. www.heritageaudit.org.uk, www.historicscotlandimages.gov.uk) are owned and run by Historic Scotland.In using these sites you are agreeing and are bound to the Terms as stipulated by Historic Scotland. If you do not agree to these, then do not use our Websites. You are permitted to use our Websites solely on the basis of these Terms and those listed on our product websites. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to update and/or revise these Terms. Please check periodically for changes.

Registration & securityYou must register to purchase Products from our Website and lawfully enter into and form contracts. To register for our services, you must be over eighteen years of age. You must ensure that the details provided by you on registration or at any time are true, correct and complete in all respects. You must stipulate a bona fide delivery address. Please note that PO box numbers, hotels and accommodation addresses are not acceptable. You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity or to use a false name or a name that you are not authorised to use. You must inform us immediately of any changes to your personal information by updating this as and when necessary.
This information is stored securely on our database, please read our Privacy Policy.
If you have chosen to opt-in to receive future communications from Historic Scotland, then your details will be held until such time as you choose to unsubscribe from the service. Users who no longer wish to receive our communications may opt-out by clicking unsubscribe option on any email communication received or the user may contact us to opt-out.
Online orderingWhen you purchase from our websites, you will be guided through the process of placing an order by a series of simple instructions.
- We will send to you an order acknowledgement email detailing the Products you have ordered. This is not an order confirmation or order acceptance from us.
- Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the Products (depending on your choice of delivery method) ordered unless we have notified you thatwe do not accept your order or you have cancelled it in accordance with the policy 'How to cancel your order'.
Non-acceptance of an order may be a result of one of the following:
- Our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment;
- Technical errors;
- You not meeting the eligibility to order criteria set out in the Registration & Security section above.

How to cancel your orderIf you wish to exercise your right to cancel a contract, prior to order despatch, contact 0131 668 8800 or email hs.shop@scotland.gsi.gov.uk (for Historic Scotland online shop purchases) or
hs.ticketing@scotland.gsi.gov.uk (for Edinburgh Castle webstore) to cancel your order. Please note that admission tickets are non-refundable.
If your order has already been dispatched please follow the procedure set out in our "Returns" policy.
With Historic Scotland online shop purchases you are entitled to cancel this contract provided that you exercise your right within 8 (eight) working days after the day on which you receive the Products.
Please note that your right to return Products does NOT apply to Products which fall into the following categories:
- Perishable goods (for example flowers and food);
CD, DVD, tapes or other recording media, software or videos if their seal is broken;
Earrings
This does not affect your statutory rights under Scots Law
PaymentAll prices on our websites are in pounds sterling £ inclusive of the current rate of Value Added Tax VAT applied in the UK (where applicable) and are correct at the time of entering the information onto the system.
The total cost of your order is the price of the Product(s). Payment can be made by any of the methods specified in the Payment section of our websites and payment will be debited and cleared from your account at time of order. Prices may change at any time prior to acceptance of your order.
You confirm that the credit/debit card that is being used is yours. We accept Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Visa Delta, Solo, Maestro and JCB online.
All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to or does not, for any reason, authorise payment to us, we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.
Credit card transactions are made on a separate secure server, with full encryption of all credit card data. Your credit card details and personal information will not be shared with any other company or organization.

Items purchased from the Historic Scotland online shop will be despatched using either Royal Mail or Parcel Force depending on weight. Please allow 28 days for delivery. This may be longer for overseas orders or products which are out of stock. Overseas orders may be subject to import duties and taxes which you will have to pay when your order reaches your country.
We endeavour to deliver within 10 working days of your order being placed unless alternative dates are stated in the product description, this is subject to goods being in stock.
High Value goods are subject to additional carriage charges and delivery times may vary. Individual rates and delivery times will be included in the product information for each individual item.
We cannot be held responsible should local customs authorities wish to confiscate any particular item contained within the hamper, or charge any import duty. The recipient is responsible for paying the duty.
Delivery charges are based on calculated volumetric weight and delivery destination and will be quoted during the checkout process prior to your order being charged. Delivery charges vary depending on the type of products ordered and the service you select and cannot be refunded.
We cannot be held accountable for delays in customs clearance.
Some higher priced products such as tapestries and jewellery may be subject to an additional insurance charge to cover special delivery costs. This cost will be displayed prior to checkout.
We do not currently offer a message card or gift wrapping service for online orders.

Customers will be given two options for the delivery of Products on the webstore.
1) Print at home. Customers will receive an email confirmation with their Print at home ticket(s) attached and/or order acknowledgements for souvenir and audio guide purchases attached as an Adobe PDF. Customers must print these tickets and bring them on their visit. The General Admission ticket gives entry into Edinburgh Castle.
The souvenir and audio guide print at home should be used for redemption at Visitor Information and the Audio Guide Pick Up point respectively.
2) Ticket Machine Pick Up. Customers will receive an email confirmation acknowledging their order. A confirmation number will be quoted and customers must use this when collecting tickets and/or collecting a proof of purchase ticket (for souvenir and audio guides) from the ticket machines in Edinburgh Castle. Order acknowledgements are sent to the email address provided at registration once payment has been confirmed.
If you forget your Print At Home ticket or have problems collecting tickets from our ticket machines, you must bring along proof of identity to allow Visitor Information to trace your order.
Description of ProductsWe will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices of Products appearing on the Website are correct at the time when the relevant information was entered onto the system. Although we aim to keep the Website as up to date as possible, the information including Product descriptions appearing on this Website at a particular time may not always reflect the position exactly at the moment you place an order.
Any description given is for information only and does not constitute a sale by description. No warranty (express or implied) is given concerning the quality, condition or suitability for any purpose of any Products purchased.
We have taken great care in presenting the products on our website as accurately as possible. The images you see will depend on your monitor's display and colour capabilities. We are therefore unable to guarantee that the product images you see are an accurate representation of the actual merchandise.
Packaging may vary from that shown. The weights, dimensions and capacities given are approximate only. We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colours of our products that appear on the website. However, as the actual colours you see will depend on your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor's display of any colour will accurately reflect the colour of the product on delivery.
If a product is priced inaccurately on our site due to system or typographical errors, we reserve the right to correct any and all errors when they do occur and not to honor inaccurate or erroneous prices. Our prices are also subject to change without notice.
We endeavour to ensure that all merchandise offered on the website is available at the same price as in the physical stores on our sites however we reserve the right to change these prices at our discretion.
Refunds

Unwanted goods may be returned for a refund or exchange if returned in their original condition within 14 days with proof of purchase. Please contact the relevant department for instructions. Refunds will be made against the original form of tender except in respect of sales goods. Unless product is damaged or faulty, postage costs will not be refunded.

Tickets are non-refundable. No refunds due to weather conditions, length of queues or waiting times. Audio guides are subject to refund in the event of closure of the castle which prevents access to the audio guide pick up. Refunds may be available in special circumstances and will be made at the sole discretion of Historic Scotland.
Availability
All orders are subject to availability. Once an item is sold out it will be taken off the website at the earliest opportunity and may not be available again. Prices of products may change from time to time. If items that you order are out of stock, subject to a delay or the price is higher than that shown on your order, we will try to contact you at the email address you provided when placing your order.
If we cannot contact you or receive no response to our email, we will continue to process the remaining items on your order. All items are subject to availability. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, it is necessary to substitute an item, the item will be of equal or greater value than that which it replaces.

Restrictions
Where the order concerns:
- Knives or bladed articles, or liqueur chocolates, by placing an order you confirm that you are over the age of 16.
- Alcohol, by placing an order you confirm that you or the recipient of an alcohol gift are over the age of 18.
- Classified videos and DVDs, by placing an order you confirm that you are over the age classified by the video/DVD.
Language
The contract will be concluded in English.
Membership of Historic Scotland discounts
The membership 20% discount is not applicable to life memberships, admission tickets, sale items in the online shop or the Edinburgh Castle webstore (www.edinburghcastle.gov.uk)
Members of Historic Scotland are entitled to 20% retail discount on all products except phonecards, stamps and reduced items sold in Historic Scotland shops at our properties, through our Retail Department at Longmore House and through our website. The discount does not apply at Calanais, Duff House, Dundonald Castle, Kinnaird Head Lighthouse, Skaill House or the Whithorn Trust Discovery Centre.
Members are not entitled to discounts on Scottish explorer passes, admission tickets, the hire of Historic Scotland properties and purchases in our cafes and restaurants.
