Public transport

From Oban, walk 4 mins to Oban Pier. Take Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Craignure on Mull (45 mins). Walk 1 min to Craignure ferry terminal. Take Bowmans Coaches no 496 (Fionnphort) to Fionnphort ferry terminal bus stop (1hr 10 mins). Walk 1 min to Fionnphort pier. Take Cal-Mac ferry to Iona (5 mins). Walk 9 mins to Iona Abbey.

Facilities & access

Access

It is uphill from the ferry to the abbey, a walk of a quarter of a mile, however, a pre-booked taxi is available which can also carry folded wheelchairs. To book, telephone 0781 032 5990.

Access around the abbey, grounds, shop and cloister areas is generally good with ramps provided to cover most steps. Assistance can also be provided on request.

Wheelchairs are available at the Abbey. Accesible public toilets are nearby at the Iona Community shop(9.30 to 5pm). Wheelchair access can be gained through the shop when open however there are no special facilities.

All our properties close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Please telephone to check for New Year opening.


Admission Prices

All year Adult £4.70, Child £2.80, Concession £3.80

Last ticket sold 30 min before closing time.

Some of the smaller monuments may close for a short period over lunch. Please telephone to check.

At weekends there may be sites closed at short notice due to adverse weather conditions or other reasons out with our control. While every effort will be taken to keep this information as current as possible, it might not appear on the website. Please telephone to check.
