Iona Abbey is one of Scotland’s most historic and sacred sites.

The abbey church was restored at the beginning of the 20th century, whilst work on restoring the living accommodation began in 1938, following the foundation of the Iona Community. Today, the Iona Community continues the tradition of worship first established by St Columba 1450 years ago.
Highlights

- The High Crosses – these four 8th/9th-century preaching crosses provide tangible links to the strength of belief that led to the founding of Iona as a cradle of Christianity 1,500 years ago.
- Tòrr an Aba – stand on this little hill overlooking the later abbey and contemplate the life of St Columba.
- The abbey church – retains many fine medieval features.
- Reilig Odhráin – the little cemetery beside Sràid nam Marbh, ‘the street of the dead’, where many ancient Scottish kings were laid to rest.
