Stirling Castle Palace Project

Stirling Castle Palace interior
The Stirling Castle Palace Project is an exciting initiative which Historic Scotland hopes will bring benefits to the whole country. The information and pictures provided through the links below cover many aspects of the project.

Included are a series of guides to the project that cover everything from its expected economic and tourism benefits to brief biographies of key figures in the work. There is also information about the research, including a major excavation, that has taken place in order to make sure the palace is presented in a way that is authentic.

Interviews are included with some of the most significant contributors to the project, like the art historian Dr Sally Rush whose research into fittings and furnishings has done much to help determine how the palace will look.

A large amount of historical background is also provided – offering insights into the key people and the events who shaped the history of the palace.Information about two related projects are also included, to create a replica version of the Stirling Heads and a series of hand-woven tapestries to hang on the walls.
