About the showThe Haunted Heritage Show is led by experienced heritage education drama professionals, Alan McHugh and Shonagh Price. It aims to raise pupils’ awareness and appreciation of the built heritage.
Haunted Heritage Performance
Features: Light hearted, amusing and musical
The performance is set in the newsroom of a television studio. The studio is invaded and taken over by the ghosts of Scotland who live in castles, ruins and historic sites that are in danger of being forgotten or destroyed to make way for car parks and supermarkets.
The Interactive Workshop
Features: Drama and role-playing
The pupils are split into three groups prior to the show:
- one group will be made up of ghosts and local characters who will argue for the historic site to be retained
- another group will comprise of local characters arguing for the proposed development/demolition of the historic site
- the third group will also be local characters who will effectively be a 'jury', who will decide upon the fate of the site, after listening to both sides argue their case.
The emphasis is on fun and raising awareness of the importance of the heritage around us.
