The Joint Working Agreement between Historic Scotland and Planning Authorities in Relation to Statutory Casework and Consultations sets out current working practices and is intended to ensure that planning authorities and Historic Scotland, work consistently and transparently to an agreed standard in taking forward the management of the historic environment.



All planning authorities were consulted on the document between October 2008 and January 2009 www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/closedconsultations

In 2014 Historic Scotland and Scottish Borders Council have undertaken a pilot project looking at statutory priorities in reference to the Joint Working Agreement.

The summary key issues Joint Working Agreement and associated Statutory Requirements Document were agreed by Scottish Borders Council and Historic Scotland in July 2014 and both are available above.

The Statutory Requirements Document is under continuing review and the pilot will be taken forward with other planning authorities.
