Green Tourism

Historic Scotland takes part in the VisitScotland Green Tourism Business Scheme for tourist organisations.  Under the scheme organisations are rigorously assessed, audited and encouraged to operate in an environmentally friendly way.  65 sites are members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme.  In 2007-08 Historic Scotland received 46 Gold, 18 Silver, 1 Bronze awards. We are also participating in the Sustainable Tourism Partnership.  

Historic Scotland follows the Scottish Government’s Procurement policies to take account of environmental issues in its procurement of goods, works and services.
