David MitchellDirector of Historic Scotland Conservation Group
Prior to joining Historic Scotland in 2002, David was Managing Director of a private firm of Industrial Heritage Consultants and Contractors based in Glasgow for ten years. His work in the Conservation Group has centred around technical and scientific research and traditional building skills in particular.
He has a BSc and MSc in earth - based sciences and is currently working towards a PhD in Architecture. He is a Trustee of the Scottish Ironwork Foundation and the Scottish Industrial Heritage Society. He is a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and the Institute of Cast Metal Engineers. He is married with two children.
He was appointed Director of the Conservation Group in September 2008.
