Historic Scotland 2011 Staff Surveys

Historic Scotland has announced the findings of its annual Civil Service Survey, and Employee Work and Wellbeing Survey, which give staff an opportunity to rate their experience of work.

The Civil Service study showed that Historic Scotland performed at the top end of the scale compared with the rest of the Civil Service, although they dipped slightly from last year. The “engagement index” was rated at 64 per cent, eight per cent higher than the rest of the Civil Service. The overall response rate was 43 per cent.

In the Employee Work and Wellbeing survey, examining key areas such as demand, control, managerial and team support, relationship, roles and change, the results showed 80 per cent of respondents enjoy their job, with around two-thirds saying they had a “good” work-life balance. Nearly three out of every five employees responded to the questionnaire.

The results will now be used to help Historic Scotland develop a formal strategy to promote wellbeing in the workplace, and action plans will be drawn up to address specific issues raised by the surveys. You can access the full results at the links below.
