Traditional building skills at heart of Scotland's construction industry, says Fiona HyslopMedia Releases
Historic Scotland has launched its campaign to recruit 30 additional apprentices in traditional building skills - stonemasonry, joinery and painting – that are crucial to Scotland’s construction industry. The announcement was made by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop who will later today highlight the importance of traditional building skills, and the contribution they make to the Scottish economy, in a Scottish Parliament Debate.

Views sought on marine heritage protectionMedia Releases
The way that we protect Scotland’s historic shipwrecks and other marine heritage sites is being updated and Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs Fiona Hyslop has urged people to make their views heard. Heritage attractions open doors for freeMedia Releases
Over 40 of Scotland’s top heritage attractions will be opening their doors for free this November. Historic Scotland is once again offering free admission to its winter ticketed attractions including Scotland’s number one tourist attraction, Edinburgh Castle, the newly refurbished renaissance palace at Stirling Castle, and Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness as part of its St. Andrews ‘Visit For Free’ programme.
