Looking after historic buildings

South Uist
Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD)

SEERAD will shortly roll out a replacement for earlier agri-environment schemes. The new package, Land Management Contracts, will offer various levels of support for rural land owners and managers to look after their holdings in an environmentally friendly manner.

Capital assistance may be available for simple but effective forms of management which improve the condition of, or at least preserve, ancient monuments and key rural vernacular buildings, and annual payments may also be made for the ongoing management of sites. Contact your local SEERAD or On The Ground office here or speak to your landuse adviser if you have one, for example SAC, FWAG or commercial landuse advisory firm.
