Medieval Construction Science Show

Fun science for schools! Historic Scotland’s Medieval Construction Science Show will be visiting Historic Scotland properties and Science Festivals around the country.

Have you ever wondered how huge castles and abbeys were built?  The Medieval Construction Science Show investigates the engineering behind Medieval buildings.  Pupils  take part in fun interactive demonstrations as they follow the journey of a block of stone from a quarry to the top of an arch, exploring basic science and technology principles such as gravity, forces, pulleys and arches, along the way.  Shows can be adapted for P4-S1.

Shows last for 50 or 70 minutes and will run at these sites on the following dates.

Arbroath Abbey: 28, 29 & 30 October 2014
Claypotts Castle: Dundee 3, 4 & 5 November 2014

Shows are FREE but must be booked in advance. Bookings will be allocated on a first come basis.  Contact the Learning Services Team to book a slot or for more information.
