We're changing

We have created a new public body, Historic Environment Scotland. While we work on shaping our future we can reassure you that all services and products will continue as normal. Please follow our progress and find out more about our new organisation.

What are we working on now?

Orchard Gate, Dryburgh Abbey

As well as our day to day work assessing proposals for inclusion on the Inventory, and processing requests to review Inventory sites, we conduct other projects throughout the year.

In 2015, the team is busy working on:

  • Reviews of existing Inventory sites across Scotland, including  Hopetoun House.

A full review is a major piece of work that involves a site visit,  a fresh assessment against the Inventory criteria, and research to ensure that revised Inventory records encapsulate any new information that has come to light together with a description of the landscape in its present setting .

Would you like to nominate an Inventory designed landscape for a review? Please check our website for information on proposing sites for assessment

Inventory records that have been revised in recent years include:

Blair Adam
Inveraray Castle
Brodick Castle
Culzean Castle
