Michael Russell, Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution WELCOME
from Michael Russell,
Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution.

“I am delighted to welcome delegates to this Ministerial summit on the built and historic environment which, in a magnificent setting, brings together a broad range of organisations and individuals who care passionately about Scotland’s rich historic and built environment.

Today is about recognising and celebrating some of the inspiring work we are doing across our historic and built environment and I urge you to take time to enjoy the displays in the Hall hosted by partners across the sector.

Today is also about providing an opportunity to debate key issues across the built and historic environment and to set ourselves a challenge to ensure that we are doing all we can through our leadership, management and support for the sector to make a significant and positive contribution to the Government’s Purpose and its National Outcomes.

I want to hear your ideas where changes to the way we work, where working more collaboratively across the sector, where removing barriers and providing innovative solutions can improve our outcomes and deliver better for the people of Scotland.

look forward to working with you today and hearing your valuable contributions.”
