Festive fun at Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle has lots of fun activities on offer for all the family over the festive season including a storyteller recounting tales of a Victorian Christmas, Renaissance Music, a Winter quiz for children and  Christmas Carols in the Great Hall by pupils from George Heriot’s School.

And if you want to get out of the house after Christmas, come and join Mary, Queen of Scots, as she celebrates The Daft Days, a time of mirth and merriment.  With advice on how to dress for the Queen, period games and musketry displays by the Royal Guard, there is fun for all the family.

Renaissance Music - December 8th and 9th
Providing a fascinating insight into the music of the renaissance, discover how a hurdy gurdy or renaissance racket was played.

Christmas Carols in the Great Hall Sunday 16th December
Come and listen to some of your favourite Christmas Carols performed by pupils from George Heriot’s School in the spectacular surroundings of the Great Hall.

Christmas Tales at Edinburgh Castle - 22nd and 23rd December
Come in from the cold, join our storyteller around the fire in the Great Hall and listen to the tales of a Victorian Christmas.  Discover the fascinating stories behind the Christmas traditions that survive today
11.15 am, 12.15 pm, 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm

The Daft Days - 27th December to 2nd January
Come to Edinburgh Castle and join in with Mary Queen of Scots as she celebrates The Daft Days, a time of mirth and merriment!  With advice on how to dress for the Queen, period games and musketry displays by the Royal Guard, there is fun for all the family this Christmas.
