Get an additional two months for free when you buy Historic Scotland gift membership, giving free access to sites including Edinburgh Castle, Linlithgow Palace and Urquhart Castle

Stuck for last-minute Christmas gift ideas for the person who has everything? Why not give the gift of 5,000 years of history with a Historic Scotland gift membership?

This Christmas, when you buy a year’s gift membership from Historic Scotland online with a credit or debit card, you will get an additional two months for free. Membership gives you unlimited free access to 78 historic sites across the country, including Edinburgh Castle, Linlithgow Palace and Urquhart Castle.

Gift membership can be sent directly to you or to the recipient and comes complete with your own personal message. Members benefit from a whole host of extras including discounts in gift shops and cafes and a quarterly members’ magazine. If you are already a member, you’ll receive a 20 per cent discount on gift membership.

The recipient will also get half-price entry to over 500 heritage attractions in England, Wales and the Isle of Man and free entry to over 400 Historic Scotland daytime events, from living history and music to battle re-enactments and spectacular jousting tournaments.

Prices for a year’s membership, with an additional two months for free, range from £38.50 for concessions to £48 for adults and £89 for two adults plus children. Gift membership orders placed before 13 December will be posted in time for Christmas.

Susan Loch, Head of Visitor Operations and Community Engagement at Historic Scotland said: “Membership to Historic Scotland is a gift that keeps giving all year round, and this Christmas you can buy 14 months of membership for the price of 12. Giving users unlimited access to all of our sites around the country, membership also comes with a whole host of other benefits. Lucky recipients of gift membership will be able to enjoy unlimited access to sites including Edinburgh Castle, Linlithgow Palace and Urquhart Castle allowing them to visit time and again right up to February 2015.”
