Review of Historic Scotland
In December 2002 Mike Watson, the then Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport announced a review of the structure and functions of Historic Scotland and made a commitment that the results of the review and Ministers' conclusions in the light of that review would be made available to Parliament.
Executive Agencies are currently subject to reviews of their status and functions by the Scottish Executive at 5 yearly intervals (Quinquennial Reviews). A Review of Historic Scotland was conducted in 1993-1994; a further review planned for 1999 was held over, along with a number of others, because of the wider changes flowing from devolution.
