is a magnificent ruin on a grand scale. The Abbey is thought to be the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart, marked with a carved stone plaque within the grounds.

This wonderful Abbey offers a very special venue for wedding ceremonies and photography.

Facilities:

Presbytery area of the Church (partially open air)
An imposing magnificent building with lavishly decorated stone work.

The Garth of the Cloister (open air)
A large grassed area located to the left of Presbytery area of the church.

Capacity:

Presbytery area of the Church:           60 people seated & 40 people standing or 100 people standing
The Garth of the Cloister:100 people standing



Types of Ceremony:

Religious & Humanist.
Civil licences can be applied for from the local council.

Photography:

You can make your wedding photographs special by hiring Melrose Abbey specifically for your photographs, even if you are holding your ceremony elsewhere. Please note that at sites where we offer ceremonies, we do not accept photography bookings more than two months in advance of the wedding date.
