The first in a series of two guided walks focusing on the geology of Holyrood Park. Join a Ranger on a longer moderate graded guided walk to discover the fascinating geological history of Holyrood Park. Discover fossilised lagoons, walk on lava and find out more about Edinburgh’s own James Hutton (the father of modern geology).

Holyrood Park Education Centre
St. Anthony’s Chapel area, Hunter’s Bog/Volunteers’ Walk/ Crags area, Radical Road. This may be subject to change.
Warm, waterproof clothing and sensible footwear (with grips). A snack and drink.
At the Education Centre.
Not suitable for disabled - although tours for disabled can be arranged. May not be suitable for children under 16 years.
At the Broad pavement Car Park. At the Broad Pavement Car Park. Sunday road closure mean that access to the car park is from Holyrood Road or the Scottish Parliament entrances only.
