The voluntary sector is recognised as a fundamental part of Scottish society and a varied list of organisations have long provided crucial support to the Scottish government in its efforts to conserve the historic environment.

The provision of grants to voluntary bodies are an essential part of our wider efforts to safeguard Scotland's historic environment and promote its understanding and enjoyment. The Scottish government through Historic Scotland is fully committed to providing support to the voluntary sector by the way our direct funding programme and through the commitments outlined in our operational policy paper, which was drawn up following consultation with the sector.
Who can apply?
Voluntary Sector Organisations that provide services or input to the Historic Environment Sector.
Criteria
Applications for funding assistance should be submitted by 30th September each year and are appraised against Historic Scotland’s agreed priorities. Informal decisions will be notified to applicants by 30th November and formal offers of grant will follow thereafter.
