An action packed programme of entertainment awaits you at Fort George on the 5th, 6th and 7th of September with the arrival of the first ever Highland Military Tattoo!
As the largest working military base in the UK, Fort George provides a fantastic backdrop for this thrilling event. To whet your appetite, we asked the Highland Military Tattoo Events Team to pick out a few of the top acts to give you a flavour of what’s in store – here’s their list:
One of the highlight for the event will be the display from Neil Geddes in a handmade replica SE5A Biplane! Neil spent six years building the plane himself and now travels across the country taking part in air shows. The original Biplane was powered by a 200bhp engine which reached its top speed of just over 135mph. Used in WWI as a vital part of the Allies defences; the plane was a favourite of many of the top Allied Pilots. The display at this year’s Tattoo is one not to be missed!
Another addition to the Tattoo will be three-time nominee for Gaelic Singer of the Year Fiona Mackenzie! Fiona is a singer/songwriter from Moray and her talents have won her plenty of recognition in her genre. Not only was she the winner of the Gold Medal at the National Mod in 2005, Fiona’s success is not limited to Scotland, the talented singer has won international prizes for song writing. Her performance will be another excellent addition to the line-up at the Tattoo this year.
Speaking of international success, one of the biggest highlights for this year’s Tattoo will be a performance by the world renowned Hellcats! The Hellcats are an ensemble of buglers, drummers and piccolo players who are part of the West Point Band, the US Army’s oldest musical organisation with a history spanning 220 years. The Hellcats featured in the New York Tattoo earlier this year but will be making their first ever trip to the UK for the Tattoo in September.
